Meet our Didcot Manager and Artistic Director, Chelsea. Chelsea joined the Segais team in 2013 and has been in the hair industry for more than five years. Here she talks about what she loves about her job and why she thinks Victoria Beckham needs a bit of a makeover…
Which hair style do you absolutely love doing? Colour – every aspect of colouring is fun and creative but if I had to pick a favourite it would have to be a form of dip dye called balayage ombre. The colour selections are endless from soft and subtle to big and bold but all with amazing effect on long hair. I also enjoy cutting asymmetrical bobs because I feel there are many different ways to cut them depending on length and how drastic a client would like it. I guess I see it as more of a challenge which I love.
What do you love about your job? To pinpoint what I love about being a hairdresser is very hard, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else as I love people and I thrive off the creativity, not to mention that each day is different so never gets repetitive.
Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on? I would love to get my hands on Victoria Beckham’s hair because in my opinion long hair just does nothing for her. Whoever said people who have kids need to look mumsy? I don’t like how it drags her face down making her look older than she is. I would chop it back into a sleek, sharp graduated bob to enhance her facial structure and dominant features and finish it off with some low profile highlights to break the darkness up around the face.
Who or what inspires you? Having had fine wispy hair all my life and not feeling the most confident with it, the feeling of making someone feel amazing and confident in themselves is what inspires me.
Which three hair products would you take with you if stranded on a desert island? Intense hydrator, detangling spray, K-Pak shampoo.
What is your ultimate ambition? To continue to better my skills as I go through my career and progressing as much as I can, keeping all my lovely clients happy in the process.
How would you describe yourself in three words? Happy, fun and a good listener.
