This will vary from person to person, and depends on factors such as how often you wash your hair and if you use heated appliances as well as your lifestyle.

On average and with the correct care, a 72 Hair smoothing treatment usually lasts for up to 12 weeks.  We will advise you on aftercare at your appointment and can recommend the appropriate products to use.

Can the smoothing treatment be applied to chemically treated hair?

Yes, the good news is that 72 Hair Keratin Smoothing Gel can be applied to hair that has undergone any type of chemical treatment including straightening procedures .  Speak to your Segais stylist who will select the most appropriate 72 Hair product for your hair type.

Should I colour my hair before or after my keratin treatment?

We recommend applying the colour before your smoothing treatment, so it can help to lock the colour in.  The keratin treatment will enhance the vibrancy of your colour.

If you can't colour your hair before your treatment, we recommend waiting at least 7 days after treatment before your colour appointment.

Will a 72 Hair keratin treatment completely straighten my hair?

The smoothing treatment is designed to work with your hair's natural texture so the result depends on your hair type. If you have unruly, frizzy hair, you will see a massive reduction in frizz and curls. If your hair is naturally straight, it will appear shinier and smoother. All hair types will gain strength and be more manageable.

Which aftercare shampoo and conditioner should I use?

How soon can I wash my hair after my keratin treatment?

We recommend that you do not wash your hair for the first 72 hours after the treatment. However if you have curly hair and want to keep more of the curl then wash your hair after 24 hours, but this may reduce the longevity of the results.

How should I care for my hair straight after my keratin treatment?

For the first 72 hours after your smoothing treatment we recommend the following:

  • Do not get your hair wet (in the shower, pool or sea).  If your hair does get wet during this time, restraighten it using titanium coated straighteners.
  • Do not use any hair care products, including hair spray, gel and mousse.
  • Do not tie up your hair.

Can I go out in the sun after my keratin treatment?

Absolutely!  The sunshine will show off the glossy shine on your perfect hair!   We do however recommend using a UV protector for your hair.  Speak to your Segais stylist about the best product to use.
